The Texas Constitution of 1876 is the fifth since statehood. Framed by the Constitutional Convention of 1875, it was adopted February 15, 1876 by a vote of 136,606 to 56,652.

It originally had 289 sections organized into 17 articles. Over the years, 216 new sections have been added. However, 66 of the original sections and 51 of the added sections have been repealed.
