This section was repealed August 5, 1969.

Editor Comments

The former section was adopted in 1876 and never amended.

It read: "It shall be the duty of the Legislature to provide for the custody and maintenance of indigent lunatics, at the expense of the State, under such regulations and restrictions as the Legislature may prescribe."

Categorized as "deadwood," it and numerous other sections were repealed by the same ballot proposition in 1969.
