Added November 4, 1997:
The Legislature shall fix by law the terms of all offices of the public school system and of the State institutions of higher education, inclusive, and the terms of members of the respective boards, not to exceed six years.
Editor Comments
An Article VII, Section 16 that contained the substance of this section was added in 1928.
Another Article VII section numbered 16 concerning a different matter was added in 1930.
The substance of this section was eventually transferred from number 16 to 16-a in 1997.
The section provides an exception to Article XVI, Section 30(a) for the designated officers.
