Article XVI, Section 13A of the Texas Constitution

Added September 13, 2003:

For an office of a political subdivision for which this constitution requires an election, the legislature may provide by general law for a person to assume the office without an election if the person is the only candidate to qualify in an election to be held for that office.

Editor Comments

This section is unnecessary because Article XVI, Section 13 authorizes the Legislature to provide that a person may assume any office without an election if the person is the only candidate to qualify.
