Article III, Section 61-a of the Texas Constitution ("Minimum Salaries of Certain State Officers")

Added November 4, 1997:
The Legislature shall not fix the salary of the Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Commissioner of the General Land Office or Secretary of State at a sum less than that fixed for such officials in the Constitution on January 1, 1953.

This section, originally added in 1954, was numbered Article III, Section 61.
However, an unrelated section numbered 61, added in 1952, already existed.
In 1997, the substance of this section was moved from number 61 to 61-a.
